Salted Caramel Apple Pie Bars

These bars deliver everything you love about apple pie—warm spices, buttery crust, jammy fruit—but in handheld form with a drizzle of homemade salted caramel that makes them absolutely irresistible.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Fleur de sel for finishing

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix butter and granulated sugar, then work in flour and salt until crumbly. Press two-thirds into a 9×13-inch pan; bake 12 minutes.
  2. Toss apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Spread over crust.
  3. Combine remaining crust mixture with oats and pecans; sprinkle over apples.
  4. Bake 35–40 minutes until golden. Cool completely.
  5. Drizzle with caramel and a pinch of fleur de sel. Cut into bars.

Chef's tip: Let the bars cool completely before drizzling caramel—warm bars will cause it to slip right off, but a chilled base holds it beautifully.
