Classic Chili Recipe

This is comfort food at its finest—a deeply satisfying pot of beef chili that fills your kitchen with aroma and your table with happy faces, perfect for a laid-back weekend gathering.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (15 ounces each) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, jalapeños, green onions

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Sauté onion until soft, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more.
  2. Add ground beef, breaking it apart as it browns, about 8–10 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beans, and beef broth. Stir well.
  5. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Let it bubble gently for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and adjust seasonings. Serve in bowls topped with cheese, sour cream, jalapeños, and green onions.
